RE-ENGINEERING IRAQ

Glenn Zorpette
Executive Editor, IEEE Spectrum Magazine

Tuesday, February 14, 2006
3:00pm -- 4:30pm
Bissinger Room
Howe Center, 4th Floor

Award-winning journalist Glenn Zorpette will describe his recent experiences embedded with an engineering team attempting to rebuild Iraq's power grid in the midst of a violent insurgency. In an article in the February 2006 issue of IEEE Spectrum, the journal of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Zorpette calls the effort one of the largest, most dangerous and most important engineering projects in history.

A former editor at Scientific American and Red Herring, Zorpette has written about technology and national security issues for more than two decades. He won the prestigious National Magazine Award in 1993 for his reporting on Iraq's nuclear program.

This event is part of an ongoing series sponsored by the Stevens Center for Science Writings in collaboration with the Frederick and Julia Bissinger Fund for the Humanities. For more information, contact John Horgan at jhorgan@stevens.edu or 201-216-5057.
