The Department of Literature and Communications offers a range of
traditional courses in world literatures as well as a curriculum
relating to science, engineering, and the culture of New York
City. As faculty of an Institute of Technology we are involved in
undergraduate programs and also sponsor a graduate certificate in
professional communications focusing on technical and science
writing. As scholars we publish and lecture in various fields of
literary enquiry.

| Undergraduate Programs |
- B.A. degree in Literature: Required secondary
concentration ensures that students coming to Stevens for a
B.A. can take advantage of our fine programs in such fields as
History of Science or Computer Science.
- Double Degree: A B.A. in Literature and a B.S. or
B.E. degree in a field of science, engineering or business. The
Institute's size permits the individualized attention that allows
this double degree.
- Minor in Literature:
- General Institute Humanities Requirements:
- Writing Program:
Our students have gone on to Ph.D programs and become professors
of literature. Medical and dental schools love our graduates as do
major corporations. Our certificate program in professional
communications offers advanced training sought out by
multinational companies for their executives and mid-level
managers.

|
| Beyond the Institute |
Our own scholarship--publications and presentations at national
and international conferences--connects us and Stevens to the
larger academic community. We put on conferences and events that
attract large audiences from the local community and beyond. For
example:
- The Frankenstein Conference
- The Translation Conference
- V-DAY
