The Department of Social Sciences supports undergraduate curricula in Engineering, Science and Arts, and Management, enables undergraduates in all curricula to design majors and minors in social science, and is planning to offer graduate certificates and a masters program beginning in the fall of 2005.

The Department offers undergraduate courses in Political Science, Psychology, Urban Studies, Psychology of Gender, Jury Decision Making, Leadership, and Computers and Society. These courses are provided as core courses to satisfy undergraduate distribution requirements and as electives for juniors and seniors. These courses can be combined with courses in Economics and Psychology from the School of Management to constitute an undergraduate major.

In 2005-2006, the Department will begin a Graduate Certificate in User Interface Design consisting of courses in Cognitive Psychology, Software Interface Design and Systems Management, culminating in a Practicum on designing software interfaces. The Department will also begin a Certificate in Complexity and Human Values that includes a Core Multidisciplinary Course on Complexity and Human Values combined with a selection of electives in liberal arts, culminating in a Practicum in policy analysis.
