When reading the first chapter of Internet Art it was obvious that the blossoming of the internet truly enabled a new generation of artists with a completely new medium. Of all of the projects, I found that Natalie Jeremijenko's project, LiveWire, had the most appeal for me. Artists have long worked to bring concepts or ideas into the physical realm. I love the idea of a functional sculpture that can de-mystify some of what is going on in 'cyberspace.' This is a very exciting field, as it is interesting to see how other data has been, or could be manifested into the physical realm. The LiveWire is a unique method of disseminating information. Rather than the typical on-screen, virtual, and intangible approach, wherein the data retains an ethereal non-existence, the LiveWire takes information and puts it into the physical space of the user. It enables the user to see something which, to the average person, is purely intangible and theoretical. I would love to see more projects that take the conceptual elements of many sciences and transform them into tangible, relatable objects.
