rhizome artbase net.art and hypertext assignment

Visit the Rhizome ArtBase, conduct a search using the keywords "hyperlink" or "net.art"," and spend some time interacting with at least one of the pages you view. Take a screen-shot or find the original (absolute) url for an image on the site. For your written response, describe the work you viewed, paying particular attention to the way your interaction with it's content was structured by the form, stratagies and/or particular technologies used by the artist. Code your response as an HTML page and resize the image, and email the .html file to the instructor.

The bad news:

I was very dissapointed with Rhizome.org . Most of the things I wanted to look at returned this:

Which, if you can't read it, says that one must pay $25 to view the selected link and to become members.

Now I realize that Rhizome has people employed, just like everyone else, and they need to pay their bills. However, as a student, I can't pay $25 due to the fact that I'm completely broke, and I can't get a student discount. Furthermore, I was throughly dissapointed because I feel like it is counter to the whole mission of bringing art and technology together.

I also had difficulty determining how one would put an image up, because if you were to open the fle from a different machiene, one wouldn't be able to see the image. Fortunately, google was able to help a bit, and I was able to find some free web-hosting and uploaded my image files to a more permanent url.

Again, google was able to help; I found a few hyperlink and net.art projects that I was interested in.

By far my favorite net.art project (likely due to the way it was promoted) is whitneybiennial.com
This project was exceptional in the way they used word of mouth to promote a project to epic proportions.
