Generative and Software Art

In this chapter Rachel Green discusses the use of various programming languages used to implement different projects. Chiefly, the text addressed pearl, java, lingo and C. The language that an artist chooses is based on their project; what they want to address. It is interesting to hear a description of how different languages interact with the artists concept and aesthetic to build the various different projects. It is interesting to understand the flexibility and complexity that comes with the various languages. I was particularly intrigued by Graham Harwood's London.pl. This project was built incorporating layers of language. Not only can it be seen as executed code, poetry is incorporated into the code itself. Thus giving it a true duality; emphasizing both the project and the language.
